A Beautiful You

A Beautiful You

JEANIE’S JOURNAL

The future is not always what we plan it to be, so who would have ever guessed that I would ever be part of a southern magazine. Well, here I am a beauty director of a national magazine. What a challenging and rewarding experience to be a part of something from the start.

Most people ask me what I do in my spare time…well I love to run and believe it or not it wasn’t a hard thing to start. Let’s face it all that stress has to go somewhere so why not pound the pavement. During long distances I take Myrtle my trusted i pod with me. Currently my favorite artists are The Avett Brothers and The Gabe Dixon Band.

So here’s to the future and whatever it brings my way. I am up for the challenge.

SPA GIRL

Kristin Prickett, aka “Spa Girl” within the pages of Southern Beauty Magazine, has worked in the magazine industry for eight years as everything from on-stage talent presenting Southern Living Magazine’s Cooking School to coordinating marketing events like the Southern Living Gardening School and Cook-Off. She is currently the Senior Editor of the “Body” section for Southern Beauty and as such oversees the fashion and style pages in addition to writing the “Spa Girl” column.

She has been traveling to spas across the nation and even in other parts of the world since 2003 when her now mother-in-law started taking her on twice annual girls’ spa trips with her sisters-in-law. She is also the busy mom of a 2-year-old little boy who considers herself very blessed to be able to write about something she loves doing, even if it is between cleaning up spilled goldfish and explaining that the cat doesn’t like to be swung in the air by his tail! Check out her column for spa tips, great finds and skincare solutions.

MILA’S CLOSET

Welcome to my Closet!

I absolutely love fashion and everything that goes along with it, and I am here to share that passion with you. I own MODA Image Consulting, and because of that I have had the opportunity to be in and clean out many closets – and I can honestly say that I have seen it all. Bizarre fashion leftovers from the 80’s including numerous member only jackets, old suits that show us why we went gaga over shoulder pads, tie-dye shirts paying homage to the Woodstock era and some things I’d much rather forget. I really understand the connection between fashion and women in particular, and I know how frustrating it can be if we don’t know how to use it to our advantage. I also know that when we nail a look, or have an outfit on that we are sure must have been made just for us – it can inspire us and add a sense of confidence to everything that we do. Fashion has the mysterious ability to make us feel good even when our spirits are down – and can help our souls to feel reenergized even in the worst of times.

Our closets should be a stylish refuge where we can go in order to be motivated and encouraged – especially on those days when we feel like throwing on a pair of sweats and calling in sick to work. I will be here to give you tips and tricks, update you on great trends, and share stories that will inspire you to create your own memorable fashion statements!

THE SHEAR TRUTH

Hey, everybody! I hope that this little piece of cyberspace finds you well and helps you out a whole lot! Coming from a small town in Alabama has instilled in me a down-to-earth, no-nonsense approach to life. It just so happens that I was born with an eye for the fabulous! I cut, color, and coiff every day till I’m blue in the face, and I keep an eye out for all the latest trends and procedures not only in hair, but also in cosmetic products and procedures.

Through all of my experiences and research I hope that the knowledge I have accumulated can help some of you resolve some of your worst tress-related tragedies, as well as, any other issues a girl faces in the fields of beauty and fashion. Feel free to ask questions, leave tips and tricks you have discovered, or comment on my posts. (Just know that I have a reputation for being brutally be honest.) Seriously though, I do have a lot to share with all y’all, and I really hope that my advice will be a keystone in bringing out the diva in each and every one of you!

PUMP & CRCUMSTANCE

I am a 44 year old mom of four girls 9,11,15,17. I start with that because they, along with my 2 marathon finishes, are my proudest accomplishments, along with finding peace after a 5 year struggle with bulimia. I went into fitness to empower other women to throw out scales, make food their friend, and find their inner athlete. I am passionate about what I do & beside parenting, I can’t see myself doing anything else. I also am proud of John, my husband, my friend, my hero.
